Sara Race Sara Race is the Senior Manager of Environmental Management for ComEd, an electric utility company that serves most of northern Illinois. In her role, Sara oversees the department that manages all environmental facets for the company. Prior to this role, Sara was responsible for managing environmental compliance programs related to wetlands, avian, land use, and threatened and endangered species. In addition, she oversees the company’s stewardship and biodiversity programs, including ComEd’s prairie and pollinator program. She is currently involved working with many NGOs and government agencies to advance common stewardship and land management goals. Sara has been with ComEd since 2005 and has an MS in Environmental Management.
Prior to graduate school, Sara worked in the non-profit sector focusing on environmental education and plant science education with institutions such as the Chicago Botanic Garden and The Field Museum.
Julia Paschal Julie Paschal is a Senior Environmental Specialist at Nicor Gas in Naperville, Illinois. During her 12 years at Nicor, her responsibilities have included managing natural resources and stormwater construction permitting for natural gas pipeline installations, spill prevention and control, chemical inventory reporting, and environmental training for internal personnel and contractors. Before joining Nicor Gas, Julie spent nine years in environmental consulting gaining valuable experience completing wetland delineations and habitat restoration and assisting with brownfield remediation. Julie attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Science. Over the years, Julie has lived out her passion for the environment through participation in organizations such as the ROW as Habitat Working Group and Chicago Wilderness and through volunteer work with Morton Arboretum prairie restoration and “Citizen Scientists” frog call monitoring in Lake County. Her passions include projects that help connect people with the natural environment and STEM education for children and young adults.
Patrick Kenny Patrick Kenny is a Principal Environmental Consultant in the WEC Energy Group Remediation Team. He received his undergraduate degree from University College Dublin, Ireland, and his Master of Science in Environmental Diagnostics from Imperial College London. Spending 13 years as an environmental consultant in Europe and the U.S., Patrick focused on environmental site investigations followed by remedy implementation in the oil & gas and utility industries. Joining WEC Energy Group in 2019, Patrick oversees upland and waterway site investigation and cleanup under U.S. EPA and state lead programs. In addition, he is the Sediment Lead for WEC Energy Group and is the Co-Chair of the MEA Energy Association Environmental Committee.
