EPA defines “environmental justice” as the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income, with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. But arguably, the critical issue is how to address disproportionately adverse human health and environmental impacts in overburdened communities by providing equal access to the decision-making process to ensure a healthy environment, while also taking into consideration jobs, development, private property rights and a host of other interests.

Illinois is at the forefront of addressing environmental justice on the state and local levels, in conjunction with federal efforts. These new initiatives implicate landmark changes in development, permitting, land use and related issues that impact the environmental professional community.   Join us for a hard-hitting, timely webinar on these issues and more!
