Plants and Pollinators Update

​The Illinois Association of Environmental Professionals is pleased to present an upcoming webinar comprised of two parts: 1) the Plant Update and 2) the Pollinator Update. This lunchtime webinar is geared for environmental consultants, attorneys, wetland specialists, engineers and municipal, state and federal agencies.
 
The Plant Update
The USACE Floristic Quality Assessment Index (FQAI) has been updated and has its own website for consultants and botanists alike to obtain the assessment program spreadsheet for many different regions in the United States. Mr. Robbie Sliwinski will go over the updates and walk attendees through the website.
 
The Pollinator Update
In 2024, Dr. Jason L. Robinson published an article entitled “Project-specific Bumble Bee Habitat Quality Assessment” which presents a new way to assess project sites for the Federally endangered rusty patched bumblebee habitat.  Dr. Robinson will go over the methodology and walk attendees through the process of assessing bumblebee habitats in this new format. ​

Mr. Sliwinski is a graduate of DePaul University and has approximately 15 years of experience in the environmental field including natural area restoration projects such as Jackson Park and Northerly Island. Robbie is also one of the co-authors of the FQAI program.

Since receiving his PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Robinson has specialized in entomology. He is active in assessing habitats for the rusty-patched bumble bee in the Midwest.
